The Carbon Trust Interest Free Loan Scheme

The Government is trying to encourage companies to emit less carbon and have put a climate change levy on electricity, the Carbon Tax. Money raised from this levy, approximately £1billion per year is used to fund the Carbon Trust.

The Carbon Trust is an independent company funded by the UK Government. Its role is to help the UK move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.

In today’s economic climate, it may be difficult to get the credit you need to upgrade to more energy efficient equipment. Our loans could be the solution. They not only offer interest free credit to help you make your business more efficient, they also help you lower your energy bills and cut carbon emissions.

An unsecured 0% loan that could pay for itself

The Carbon Trust’s Energy-Efficiency Loans are unsecured and interest free, with no arrangement fees and a straightforward application process. Loans can be repaid over a period of up to four years, and many of our borrowers have found that their energy savings more than cover their repayments.

You may qualify for an interest free loan payable back over a maximum period of 4 years if you can show energy savings by installing energy efficient equipment.

The Loan

  • Unsecured, interest free loans from £5,000 to £200,000 to SMEs to fund carbon saving projects.
  • Loan can cover the cost of equipment and installation.
  • The loan can cover both new and replacement equipment.
  • The maximum loan period is four years
We can carry out a Free of Charge survey at your premises, fill out the appropriate forms, to get you this loan.

Reducing the amount of carbon you emit is one of the fastest, most effective ways to save your business money. And it will also help you combat climate change by reducing your carbon footprint.

You don’t need to make major alterations to see the difference. The right combination of small changes, many costing nothing, can reduce your energy bill by thousands of pounds.

Emitting less carbon will also improve your reputation as a socially responsible business, and could help you attract customers, employees and investors.

Protect your environment Using energy more efficiently will also help to slow the rate of climate change on our planet, by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), and other harmful greenhouse gases that enter the atmosphere.

Some Examples how a Government loan could help:
• Replace an old inefficient heating system e.g. electrical radiators, with an inverter heat pump system
• Replace an old air conditioning system with a modern inverter one
• Replace a fixed speed air compressor with a variable speed compressor.
• Replace your “cooling only” air conditioning system with an evaporative water cooler – just 15% of the electrical running cost of an air conditioning system a single Ecocooler can produce up to 35kW of cooling for just 1∙5kW of electricity.
• Anywhere you can save energy – we can apply for a loan for you.
